Praça do Império · 1400-206 Lisboa · Belém
The monastery is at Praça do Império, 1400-206 Lisboa, in the riverside district of Belém, about 6 km west of the city centre.
It faces the gardens of Praça do Império and, across the road and railway, the Monument to the Discoveries on the Tagus.
Tram 15E runs from Praça da Figueira and Cais do Sodré along the river and stops right in front of the monastery (Mosteiro Jerónimos stop).
Take the Cascais line from Cais do Sodré to Belém station, a ride of about ten minutes, then walk a few minutes inland.
Several Carris bus lines serve Belém from central Lisbon, including the 728, 714 and 727. Check your route in the Carris app.
From Baixa or Chiado, a taxi or ride-hailing app takes about 15–25 minutes, depending on traffic.
A flat riverside path links Cais do Sodré to Belém, about 6 km: a lovely walk or bike ride along the Tagus.
The Lisboa Card covers the tram, buses and the Cascais line train, as well as monastery entry. See the card →
